The toponymy of Yakshur-Bod'ya

Яг [(udm.) Yag] ʽa pine forestʼ + шур [(udm.)  shur] ʽriverʼ + Бӧдья [Bod’ya] – name of the clan, a family group: ‘The settlement of the family group Bod’ya, founded on the Yakshur riverʼ.

The ancient settlement was part of the Arsk road. The settlement was founded by people from the Bodya village of the Agryz county (currently VarkledBodya village of the Agryz district of the Republic of Tatarstan). According to the second version (by S.K. Bushmakin), the village was settled by relocatees from the village Dintem-Bodya of the current Zav’yalovsky district of the Udmurt Republic [Atamanov 2015: 947-948; Bushmakin 1971].
